Had they not taken a closer look, they would have missed the baby inside who ever uttered a single sound. While the hermits felt sorry for the abandoned boy, he met the world's cruelty with cheerful laughter. Whoever sent him down the river left him with no name or identifiable keepsakes. Perhaps they knew the child would drift to this isolated sanctuary and purposely left no ties to the outside world? Either way, the boy's life started anew in the Floral Falls and he was given a name. In the spring breeze, the hermits named him Yin—to honor the start of the lunar year, when life begins anew. They also gave him a blessing—to always look forward, always look up, for each day is the start of something new. Yin lived up to the expectations placed upon him. Although growing up in the Floral Falls was not easy, Yin was able to learn many valuable lessons. The reclusive hermits, weary of the world's affairs, imparted not only their martial arts but also their code of chivalry to him. Yin was a diligent student, but the more obedient he was, the more concerned the hermits who raised him became. Unlike the other residents of Floral Falls, who had lived their lives and grown weary of the world, a boy should not be afraid to make mistakes.
